Turkish and Somali forces recently recaptured the general cargo ship Lutuf, which sails under the Cameroon flag, as reported by Splash 247. The vessel had been seized by Somali pirates almost two weeks prior to its recovery.
Splash 247 stated that the 1,400 dwt ship was taken on August 17. The incident occurred approximately 4.5 nautical miles off the coast of Somalia, according to the publication.
At the time of its seizure, the Lutuf was transporting supplies. Its destination was Turkey's TURKSOM military base, located in Mogadishu, as detailed by Splash 247.
The recapture operation lasted for 10 days, as reported by Splash 247. Somalia's defence ministry provided information regarding the duration of the operation to retake the vessel.
