Malaysia's Lianson Fleet Group (LFG) has expanded its fleet with the acquisition of a third Ultramax bulker, according to a report by Splash 247. This move signifies the company's continued growth beyond its established offshore support vessel business.
The Bursa Malaysia-listed company reportedly paid $23 million (RM93.9 million) for the vessel. The acquisition involves a 2013-built Japanese vessel, which will be named LFG Cengal upon delivery.
LFG's wholly-owned subsidiary completed the purchase of the 61,446 dwt bulker. The transaction was made with an unrelated Japanese seller, as stated in the Splash 247 report.
This latest addition to the fleet underscores Lianson Fleet Group's strategic direction to diversify its maritime assets. The company is actively building its presence in the dry bulk sector, complementing its traditional operations.
