Waterborne shipments of crude oil and petroleum products from the U.S. Gulf Coast (PADD 3) to the West Coast (PADD 5) saw a significant increase in April and May, as reported by the U.S. Energy Information Administration.
The U.S. Energy Information Administration indicated that these shipments more than quadrupled year-on-year during the specified two-month period, highlighting a substantial rise in maritime activity.
This surge in shipments followed a waiver that allowed a wider range of vessels to operate between U.S. ports, contributing to the increased transportation volumes.
The U.S. Energy Information Administration also noted that shipments originating from the U.S. Gulf Coast destined for the East Coast (PADD 1) experienced an increase during the same timeframe.
