Ukraine is reportedly preparing a seized bulk carrier, the 2000-built Emmakris III, for sale. The vessel has been stranded in Chornomorsk for several years, according to Baird Maritime.
An appraiser has assessed the bulk carrier's condition, rating it as satisfactory. This evaluation suggests the vessel remains in suitable state for potential future operations, Baird Maritime reported.
The appraiser also proposed a specific alternative use for the vessel. They indicated that the Emmakris III could potentially serve as a floating platform for grain storage, according to the publication.
However, key details regarding the sale process are not yet established. Baird Maritime noted that no auction date has been set for the vessel, nor has a starting price been determined.
The preparation for sale follows a previous incident in 2025. At that time, a dispute arose concerning an alleged attempt to move the ship out of Ukraine, as reported by Baird Maritime.
