Singapore and Brazil have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to create the Singapore-Brazil Green and Digital Shipping Corridor (GDSC). According to Bunkerspot, this initiative seeks to bolster collaboration between the two nations.
The partnership will focus on maritime decarbonisation and digitalisation efforts. The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) stated that this cooperation aims to support more sustainable and efficient international shipping practices.
Bunkerspot reported that Brazil possesses substantial renewable energy resources and production capabilities. These resources could facilitate the production of marine fuels with zero or near-zero greenhouse gas emissions.
Singapore, in turn, is recognised as the world's largest bunkering port. The MPA highlighted Singapore's role as a leading global hub port, featuring a dynamic innovation ecosystem.
The collaboration leverages the strengths of both countries. Brazil's capacity for green fuel production complements Singapore's position as a major bunkering and innovation hub, as noted by Bunkerspot.
