Maritime Partners recently accepted delivery of the tugboat Titan, which is the second escort tug in a new series commissioned from Master Boat Builders in Alabama, according to Baird Maritime. The first vessel in this series, named Marauder, was delivered in May 2026.
The new tugs are designed to perform both escort and harbour assist duties, as stated by Master Boat Builders President Garrett Rice. The remaining six tugs in the series are anticipated to be delivered by 2027, further expanding Maritime Partners' operational capacity.
Titan measures 88 feet (27 metres) in length, has a beam of 43 feet (13 metres), and a depth of 19.5 feet (5.94 metres). The vessel is equipped to accommodate a crew of six, ensuring efficient operations during its various assignments.
Propulsion for Titan comes from two Caterpillar 3516E engines, each generating 3,500 hp (2,600 kW) at 1,800 rpm. These engines drive Steerprop fixed-pitch, four-bladed propellers, enabling the tug to achieve a speed of 13 knots and a bollard pull exceeding 90 tonnes.
The tug's deck equipment includes a Markey Machinery DEPCF-52 75hp (56kW) electric hawser winch, which can be interchanged with a Markey DESF-48A 100hp (75kW) escort winch if required. Additionally, Titan features a dedicated pump and two monitors for external firefighting.
Canadian naval architecture firm Robert Allan Ltd was responsible for the design of Titan. The design adheres to the standards set by the American Bureau of Shipping and complies with US Coast Guard Subchapter M requirements, ensuring robust and safe operation.
