The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, in partnership with clean transportation nonprofit CALSTART, has announced the introduction of two new incentive programs. These initiatives are designed to accelerate the adoption of zero-emission vehicles and their supporting infrastructure within the port.
The combined value of these programs is US$45 million, as reported by Container News. Their primary goal is to encourage the use of zero-emission drayage trucks and terminal tractors, alongside the necessary charging facilities, at the Port of New York and New Jersey.
Container News stated that these incentive programs are scheduled to begin in the autumn. CALSTART will play a key role in the implementation and management of these initiatives, working to facilitate the transition to cleaner transportation options at the port.
