The London Gateway Berth 5 expansion project, undertaken by DP World, has initiated its primary dredging campaign, according to a statement from McLaughlin & Harvey Ltd. This development marks a key achievement in the ongoing expansion efforts at the facility.
McLaughlin & Harvey Ltd reported that the commencement of dredging follows substantial progress made across various aspects of the project. This indicates a steady advancement in the overall construction and development schedule.
Prior to the dredging operations, significant work had already been completed. This included the construction of a new quay wall, which is a fundamental component of the expanded berth.
Further progress involved the installation of a permanent anchoring system, crucial for the stability and functionality of the new quay. Additionally, backfilling work was carried out, preparing the area for subsequent stages of development.
The dredging campaign is a critical phase for the London Gateway Berth 5 expansion, as it will deepen and prepare the waterway for increased vessel traffic and larger ships, enhancing the port's operational capacity.
