Centrofin Management, a Greek shipowner and manager, has reportedly made its entry into the container shipping sector. This move marks a significant expansion for the company into a new segment of the maritime industry.

According to information from shipbrokers, Centrofin Management placed an order for its first containerships in July 2026. This order signifies the company's strategic decision to diversify its fleet and operational focus.

The order comprises two 6,000 TEU vessels, which are substantial additions to any shipping fleet. These new vessels are expected to enhance Centrofin Management's capacity in the container market.

The shipbuilding contract was reportedly awarded to China's Hengli Heavy Industry. This shipyard will be responsible for the construction and delivery of the two new containerships.

Both vessels are anticipated to be delivered during the first half of 2028. This timeline suggests a planned expansion into the container sector within the next few years, as reported by Container News.
