KfW IPEX-Bank has confirmed a financing agreement totaling €79.3 million for the construction of two self-unloading methanol dual-fuel bulk carriers. This announcement was made by the Germany-headquartered bank on August 28.
The vessels are designed to operate using methanol as a fuel, indicating a move towards more environmentally friendly shipping practices. Each bulk carrier will have a maximum cargo capacity of 44,000 tonnes.
A joint venture formed by Hartmann Schiffsbeteiligungen GmbH & Co. KG and The CSL Group Inc. will own these new vessels. This partnership highlights collaboration within the shipping industry.
The bulk carriers are slated to operate under a long-term charter agreement. Mibau Stema Shipping ApS, a wholly owned subsidiary of Mibau Stema Group GmbH, will be the charterer.
According to KfW IPEX-Bank, the vessels will be primarily used for transporting construction materials. Their operational routes will cover both European markets and international export destinations.
