Container freight spot rates from Asia to the United States have seen a decline this week, according to The Loadstar. This reduction follows China's Golden Week holiday, which reportedly marked the conclusion of the prolonged transpacific peak season.

Data from Drewry's World Container Index (WCI) indicated a week-on-week decrease in spot rates. The Shanghai-Los Angeles route experienced a 3% drop, settling at $7,624 per 40ft container.

Similarly, the Shanghai-New York route also saw a reduction. Spot rates for this leg decreased by 2% compared to the previous week, reaching $10,220 per 40ft container.

The observed declines suggest a shift in market dynamics after the peak shipping period. The Loadstar reported that ocean carriers are now considering potential price increases in response to these changes.
