Titan Clean Fuels, part of the Molgas Group, has entered into a long-term agreement with French shipping company Sogestran Group. This partnership covers the construction, charter, and operation of a new 6,000-cubic-metre LNG bunkering vessel (LNGBV). Titan plans to deploy this vessel across the Western Mediterranean region.
The new LNGBV will be capable of loading liquefied natural gas from various terminals throughout the Mediterranean Sea. It will provide LNG and liquefied biomethane (LBM) bunkering services, alongside gas-up and cool-down operations, for all types of LNG-fueled vessels in key Mediterranean ports, including Fos-Marseille, Barcelona, and Genoa.
This strategic positioning is expected to expand the Molgas Group's presence in the Mediterranean Sea. It will add ship-to-ship LNG and LBM bunkering capabilities to the group's existing truck-to-ship services and broader onshore downstream LNG distribution network, according to Titan.
Both Titan and Sogestran teams will jointly develop and design the LNGBV. This collaborative approach aims to ensure the vessel meets the specific navigational, operational, and commercial requirements of Western Mediterranean ports, LNG reloading terminals, and the receiving vessels operating in the area.
The vessel will join the Molgas Group's existing fleet of eight LNGBVs, which currently operate across Northern Europe. Six of these vessels are part of Titan's fleet, while the remaining two are trading for Molgas Norway, further strengthening the group's bunkering capacity.
A commercial director at Titan noted that LNG and LBM have emerged as leading alternative fuels as the shipping industry progresses through its energy transition. The company intends to meet this increasing demand, with Titan aiming to become a primary LNG and LBM bunkering supplier in France and the wider Mediterranean region.
