Canada Post is set to introduce weekend parcel delivery services by the close of the current year, according to a report from FreightWaves. This initiative aims to enhance delivery options for customers.
The postal service experienced a pre-tax loss of almost $200 million during the second quarter. Despite this, the company noted an improvement in its financial performance compared to the previous year.
This positive shift is attributed to the implementation of a new labor contract. FreightWaves indicated that this agreement has been instrumental in rebuilding customer confidence.
The new contract helped to resolve operational uncertainties that had persisted for two years, fostering a more stable environment for the postal service and its customers.
The upcoming weekend delivery service is part of Canada Post's ongoing efforts to adapt its operations and meet evolving customer demands in the logistics sector.
