Alkavex, the steel trading joint venture majority-owned by Alkagesta, carried out a series of commercial development visits in the Chinese industrial hubs of Tangshan and Tianjin in mid-October 2026. The engagements were led by Bayram Bayramli, China business developer at Alkagesta, and focused on discussions with prominent steel manufacturers, processing firms, and trading entities across one of the country’s primary steel production and export corridors.
According to Alkagesta, the meetings were designed to offer direct visibility into local production capabilities, regional supply chain infrastructure, and potential international trading opportunities. Tangshan and Tianjin collectively form an essential corridor for Chinese steel manufacturing and outbound shipments, and the commercial talks were aimed at strengthening the partnerships that underpin Alkavex’s procurement and merchant operations in the region.
Based in Malta, Alkavex operates as a joint venture between Alkagesta and French steel trading house Navex SAS, with Alkagesta retaining the majority shareholding. The trading venture concentrates on sourcing semi-finished and finished steel products primarily out of China, using established ties with local producers to supply physical commodities into overseas markets.
The enterprise directs its traded steel volumes toward buyers located in West Africa and East Africa. Alkavex pairs its commodity sourcing operations with logistics handling and trade finance arrangements to serve end users in regional construction, manufacturing, and infrastructure sectors looking to meet ongoing demand for imported steel products.
